About the Role
Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is hiring a Senior Data Scientist for the Productivity AI/ML team to utilize Generative AI, machine learning, and NLP to promote data-driven clinical operations across therapeutic areas.
The role leverages and extends ML and GenAI techniques for enrollment forecasting, cost optimization, and country/site selection in global clinical trial operations.
What you'll do
- Conceive, develop, and implement GenAI and ML solutions supporting clinical trial operations
- Fine-tune and adapt large language models for comparative protocol analytics, trial similarity assessment, data harmonization, and eligibility criteria evaluation
- Leverage operational data sources and optimization techniques for cost and enrollment optimization tools
- Contribute to patient modeling and enrollment simulations for accurate enrollment completion projections
- Clearly articulate highly technical methods and results to diverse audiences and partners
What we're looking for
- Ph.D. in quantitative discipline: computer science, statistics, biostatistics, biomedical informatics, epidemiology, applied mathematics, or similar
- 2+ years industry experience delivering Data Science projects using predictive technologies, forecasting, multi-objective optimization, NLP, AI, or ML
- Hands-on experience with LLM application frameworks (DSPy, LangChain), clinical/medical LLMs, and fine-tuning techniques
- Proficiency in Python and SQL
Skills & Technologies
Required
Ph.D. in quantitative discipline: computer science, statistics, biostatistics, biomedical informatics, epidemiology, applied mathematics, or similar
2+ years industry experience delivering Data Science projects using predictive technologies, forecasting, multi-objective optimization, NLP, AI, or ML
Hands-on experience with LLM application frameworks (DSPy, LangChain), clinical/medical LLMs, and fine-tuning techniques
Proficiency in Python and SQL
Passion for leveraging data to drive scientific innovation
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
Preferred: MLOps practices, real-world data (EHR, claims, registry), enrollment modeling, clinical trial analytics
