About the Role
Aerobotics7 (A7) is a stealth-stage startup building AI and robotics to solve critical challenges on the planet. As the company's only ML engineer, you will own every ML system end-to-end—from limited real and synthetic datasets to models running in real time on robots in the field. This is a high-ownership role for engineers who want to build an ML organization from its first engineer up.
What you'll do
- Own the full ML lifecycle: custom model development, data to training to evaluation to edge/cloud deployment to monitoring
- Object detection and classification on hard, low-signal sensor data including multi-sensor fusion
- Synthetic data strategy: generation, sim-to-real domain gap, domain adaptation and randomization
- Real-time inference on-device (NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin) and at scale in the cloud
- ML infrastructure from scratch: experiment tracking, dataset/model versioning, reproducible training, evaluation harnesses
- Set the ML roadmap with founders and be accountable for outcomes, not experiments
What we're looking for
- 5+ years applied ML shipping models into production (not research-only)
- Deep hands-on work with modern transformer-based detection: DETR family (Deformable DETR, DINO-DETR), self-supervised backbones (DINOv2), or equivalent
- Low-data expertise: transfer learning, self-supervised/semi-supervised/few-shot, augmentation, active learning
- Synthetic-data training with sim-to-real gap closure in real systems
Skills & Technologies
Required
5+ years applied ML shipping models into production (not research-only)

MLOps ownership: W&B/MLflow, DVC, reproducible pipelines
Self-direction as the only ML person; several hours daily overlap with US Pacific time
