About the Role
HSBC Software Development India is hiring a Senior Associate Director, Software Engineering to define, build, and implement a Generative AI Agent platform supporting priority banking services. HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organizations in the world with operations in 64 countries and territories.
This role requires 5+ years' hands-on coding practice and 2+ years building and shipping LLM/GenAI applications.
What you'll do
- You will architect and deliver an enterprise GenAI agent platform at scale.
- Partner with stakeholders to define, build, and implement a Generative AI Agent platform
- Architect enterprise-grade capabilities: agent orchestration, workflow design, tool integration, memory/state management
- Create reference implementations, onboarding pathways, APIs/SDKs, templates, and documentation
- Define success metrics and SLOs; implement observability and run evaluations
- Continuously tune reliability, accuracy, latency, and cost
- Oversee end-to-end delivery; manage scope, risks, dependencies, and milestones
- Act as trusted advisor to senior leadership on technical recommendations and trade-offs
- Assess and drive pragmatic upgrades keeping the platform secure, compliant, and competitive
What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science/Engineering or related; strong English communication
- 5+ years hands-on coding; strong Python or Java or Golang
- Usage of at least one major cloud: AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Ability to deploy and operate services in production (Docker/Kubernetes preferred)

Proven practices with agentic workflows, multi-agents, tool/function calling, RAG, search, and vector databases
Design and develop agent tooling and integration patterns (e.g., MCP and tool/function calling)
Strong problem-solving and ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders
