About the Role
NTT DATA is hiring a Principal Agentic AI Engineer / Hands-on Technical Lead in Hyderabad to lead a compact Agentic AI SWAT team delivering production-grade agentic implementations within an established enterprise AI ecosystem.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role designing, coding, reviewing, and deploying alongside the engineering team.
What you'll do
- Decompose end-to-end processes identifying decision points and measurable outcomes
- Determine where agentic AI is appropriate and define autonomy boundaries and fallbacks
- Design and build production agents, APIs, microservices, retrieval, and integrations
- Define MCP server and tool patterns with auth, error handling, and observability
- Guide multi-agent orchestration, model routing, state management, and exception handling
- Establish structured evaluation for task success, groundedness, and regression prevention
- Contribute to code, conduct reviews, resolve technical issues, and mentor engineers
- Create reusable patterns, runbooks, and documentation for internal scaling
What we're looking for
- 10+ years software, platform, AI/ML, or distributed-systems engineering with recent coding
- Production delivery of LLM, RAG, agentic AI, or intelligent application solutions
- Strong Python, Java, or TypeScript with full-stack capability
- Deep agent patterns: tool calling, context engineering, RAG, human-in-the-loop controls
