About the Role
Jumio is hiring a Staff/Senior Machine Learning Engineer with deep expertise in computer vision and biometrics to lead design and scaling of face recognition systems in production on AWS.
You will build and train models, own ML systems end-to-end, and drive fairness analysis and benchmarking across biometric datasets.
What you'll do
- Lead design and development of computer vision systems for biometrics
- Conduct rigorous fairness analysis and benchmarking of biometric models
- Architect, train, and optimize models using PyTorch, TensorFlow, and/or JAX
- Own and evolve end-to-end ML pipelines from data ingestion to deployment
- Design automated Airflow pipelines for data ingestion, cleaning, and balanced training sets
- Generate synthetic data to address quality and diversity gaps
- Optimize models for low-latency inference and manage AWS deployment
- Mentor ML engineers, conduct code/design reviews, and drive best practices
What we're looking for
- 5+ years industry ML experience with at least 3 years in Biometrics or Face Analysis
- Deep expertise in computer vision and biometrics, especially face recognition
- Understanding of algorithmic bias sources and mitigating disparate impact
- Expert Python proficiency with Pillow, OpenCV, PyTorch, and vision libraries
Skills & Technologies
Required
5+ years industry ML experience with at least 3 years in Biometrics or Face Analysis
Deep expertise in computer vision and biometrics, especially face recognition
Understanding of algorithmic bias sources and mitigating disparate impact
Expert Python proficiency with Pillow, OpenCV, PyTorch, and vision libraries
Experience designing end-to-end ML pipelines and workflow orchestrators like Airflow
Hands-on scaling training on multi-GPU clusters and deploying on AWS (SageMaker, EC2, EKS)
Nice to have: CVPR/ICCV/ECV publications, vector databases (Milvus, Faiss), ANN search, GANs/diffusion synthetic faces, CoreML/TFLite edge deployment
