About the Role
Quantanite is hiring a Lead AI Engineer in Mumbai to own end-to-end technical leadership for AI-driven product and client engagements—coding, prototyping, and setting the technical bar for scalable, secure, and cost-efficient AI applications.
This hands-on lead role translates business requirements into technical solutions, establishes AI engineering principles, and designs MCP/API-style service architectures for GenAI capabilities across products and client systems.
What you'll do
- Own end-to-end lead engineering for AI-driven product and client engagements as the technical backbone of fast-moving delivery teams.
- Bridging business requirements and technical implementation with stakeholders, Product, and Tech PM
- Owning overall architecture and design including application, data, integration, and infrastructure layers
- Determining technology stack, frameworks, LLM providers, vector stores, and orchestration tools
- Establishing AI engineering principles for prompting, evaluation, and production-readiness standards
- Building hands-on prototypes and POCs to test concepts and de-risk approaches
- Setting standards for reinforcement learning, memory stacking, data privacy, and token cost efficiency
- Establishing MCP/API-style service architecture frameworks for interoperable AI integration
- Designing for scalability, latency, and cost-efficiency with non-functional requirements
- Leading architecture reviews and trade-off analysis (build vs. buy, pattern selection)
- Defining integration architecture with APIs and enterprise and third-party platforms
- Ensuring code reviews, quality checks, coding standards, and secure coding practices
- Owning technical debt management and maintaining architecture documentation
- Mentoring developers and evaluating emerging GenAI/LLM capabilities
What we're looking for
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- 5–7 years of software engineering experience including 2+ years in architecture or technical leadership
- Hands-on experience with LLMs (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Llama, etc.)
- GenAI frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex) and RAG-based architecture
Skills & Technologies
Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
5–7 years of software engineering experience including 2+ years in architecture or technical leadership
Hands-on experience with LLMs (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Llama, etc.)
GenAI frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex) and RAG-based architecture
Working knowledge of vector databases (Pinecone, FAISS, ChromaDB, Weaviate)
Strong full stack background: Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and microservices (FastAPI, Flask, Node.js)
Experience designing and deploying cloud-native solutions on Azure preferred
Practical experience with reinforcement learning and fine-tuning approaches
