About the Role
Bridge-it is an early-stage EdTech company building a career-readiness platform for K-12 students, counselors, and districts. The AI Copilot—powered by a production LangGraph-based agentic system—is the heart of the product. Bridge-it is hiring a Lead AI Engineer for its AI Platform (Copilot) team to own agentic orchestration, retrieval, safety guardrails, and evaluation at production scale.
This senior remote role offers leadership runway: analyze ambiguous requirements, create technical specs, distribute work, and grow toward techno-management.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and operate agentic LLM workflows in LangGraph serving live student traffic
- Own multi-source RAG: vector stores, knowledge graph, chunking, reranking, grounded generation
- Enforce input/output guardrails, constitutional rules, and abstain/escalate behavior
- Build online evaluators, offline regression suites, latency baselines, and A/B experimentation
- Optimize model selection, prompt engineering, selective retrieval, caching, and streaming
- Instrument and debug with LangSmith tracing, OpenTelemetry, New Relic, and Sentry
- Partner with backend, frontend, and product on response contracts and rollout plans
- Break epics into staged implementation plans with acceptance criteria
- Review code and mentor teammates on agentic architecture patterns
What we're looking for
- 4-8 years professional software engineering; 2-5 years production LLM-powered products; 2 years leading a team
- Strong Python fundamentals—typing, testing, async, service design
- Agentic architecture patterns: supervisor/executor, planner-retriever-verifier, tool registries
- Agent orchestration frameworks (LangGraph strongly preferred)
