About the Role
Benchmark (formerly BotBuilt, Y Combinator W21) is building technology for American homebuilding, turning construction plans into structured data. Benchmark is hiring a Junior Lead ML Engineer for computer vision to improve AI-enabled plan ingestion pipelines.
What you'll do
- Support ML systems for object detection, segmentation, document understanding
- Train, evaluate, debug computer vision models on construction data
- Build datasets, labeling workflows, preprocessing pipelines, evaluation tools
- Contribute to CV and document understanding experiments
- Assist integrating models into production applications and APIs
- Write clean, testable Python code; document experiments and decisions
What we're looking for
- 1–2 years professional, internship, research, or project experience in ML/CV
- Degree in CS, engineering, mathematics, data science, or equivalent experience
- Strong Python; PyTorch or similar deep learning framework
- Object detection, segmentation, classification, or OCR familiarity
