About the Role
Citi is hiring a Java with AI Engineering Vice President in Pune to lead applications development and establish new or revised application systems. This senior hybrid role combines deep Java microservices expertise with cutting-edge AI engineering—including GenAI, agentic AI, MCP integration, and LLM-powered enterprise solutions.
You will lead systems analysis, coach mid-level developers, and drive compliance-aware technology delivery for a global financial institution.
What you'll do
- Lead applications systems analysis and programming activities
- Establish and implement new or revised application systems
- Ensure application design adheres to architecture blueprint
- Develop standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation
- Provide in-depth analysis and innovative solutions across business integration
- Serve as advisor or coach to mid-level developers and analysts
- Assess risk and drive compliance with laws, regulations, and policies
- Engineer and execute scalable enterprise AI-enabled solutions
- Design and implement MCP integration into agentic AI systems
- Deploy LLMs (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Llama) within agentic systems

- 10+ years hands-on application development experience
- Core Java 11/17 and J2EE; Spring Boot microservices
- Event-driven distributed architecture; Kafka, Docker
- REST/SOAP web services, design patterns, concurrency
