This Assistant Vice President role focuses on building analytical tools, forecast models, and machine learning solutions that deliver commercial value for the Corporate Bank, with strong emphasis on GenAI, LLMs, and AWS cloud services.
What you'll do
- The Data Scientist will build analytical tools and machine learning models that deliver commercial value for Barclays Corporate Bank.
- Build analytical tools to generate insight, recognize patterns, and predict behaviour
- Work with technical teams, architects, designers, and administrators to overcome technical challenges
- Take ownership of key initiatives to deliver results through an agile workflow
- Design, test, and build complex forecast models and simulations
- Identify causal links between customer behaviour and business opportunities
- Develop machine learning models and apply AI to deliver commercial value
- Leverage AWS services for data transformation, feature engineering, AI product development and deployment
- Communicate complex technical ideas to stakeholders via data visualisation
- Work closely with ML Ops team in technology to streamline the path to production
- Identify, collect, and extract data from various internal and external sources
- Perform data cleaning, wrangling, and transformation
- Develop and maintain efficient data pipelines for automated data acquisition and processing
- Design and conduct statistical and machine learning models to analyse patterns and trends
- Develop predictive models to forecast future outcomes and identify risks and opportunities
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to seek out opportunities to add value from data
What we're looking for
- Bachelor or Master's degree in Data Science (or similar) or equivalent commercial experience
- Experience working with senior stakeholders across the data science life cycle from inception to production delivery
- Ability to translate technical work into business terms and communicate value to stakeholders
- Commercial experience applying machine learning techniques (clustering, classification, regression, NLP)
Skills & Technologies
Required
Bachelor or Master's degree in Data Science (or similar) or equivalent commercial experience
Experience working with senior stakeholders across the data science life cycle from inception to production delivery
Ability to translate technical work into business terms and communicate value to stakeholders
Commercial experience applying machine learning techniques (clustering, classification, regression, NLP)
Ability to write close to production standard code with strong understanding of key coding principles
Strong experience in Python and SQL
Familiarity with AWS data science and AI services, including SageMaker and Bedrock
Understanding of GenAI, LLMs, and the RAG framework
