About the Role
Agentic AI is transforming cybersecurity—from SOC alert triage to threat hunting and vulnerability prioritization. Simbian is building an Agentic AI platform for cybersecurity, and they're hiring an Applied AI Engineer to build the backend infrastructure and agent behaviors that make their AI agents powerful, reliable, and useful in real-world security environments.

What you'll do
- Design and iterate on AI agent behaviors across cybersecurity and software engineering workflows
- Build multi-step agent workflows with tool calling, branching logic, retries, and validation
- Develop tool schemas, context construction, memory, and retrieval mechanisms
- Experiment with prompting, model-facing strategies, and context engineering
- Design evaluation pipelines to measure agent quality, reliability, and regressions
- Build scalable backend services powering AI agents and security workflows
- Build ingestion, indexing, retrieval, and agent-memory layers for security data
- Design reliable execution systems with observability and traceability
- Build integrations with enterprise security platforms (SIEM, SOAR, EDR, NDR)
- Own features end-to-end from architecture through production deployment
What we're looking for
- 4-7 years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong backend development in Python, Go, or Node.js
- Strong distributed systems fundamentals
- Experience with microservices, APIs, asynchronous execution, and event-driven systems
