About the Role
HSBC Software Development India is seeking an Associate Director and AI/ML Engineering Lead to deliver GenAI and ML solutions on Google Cloud Platform for one of the world's largest banking organizations.
This senior leadership role owns architecture, MLOps, LLM/RAG delivery, and production operations in regulated banking environments.
What you'll do
- Lead delivery of AI/ML engineering solutions on GCP from design through production support
- Own architecture and technical strategy for scalable, secure data/AI platforms
- Design robust data pipelines using BigQuery, Dataflow/Beam, Airflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage
- Implement MLOps: CI/CD, automated testing, training pipelines, deployment, monitoring, rollback
- Model evaluation using precision/recall/F1, ROC-AUC, calibration, cost-sensitive metrics
- Establish engineering best practices: code reviews, test coverage, documentation, observability
- Embed security-by-design: IAM, encryption, secrets management, auditability, data privacy
- Ensure data quality, lineage, and governance for regulated banking
- Lead production operations with SLOs, alerting, incident management, and RCA
- Partner with Product, Data Science, and business stakeholders on use cases and metrics
- Define engineering standards and governance aligned with regulatory requirements
What we're looking for
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 12+ years software engineering with engineering practices and governance focus
- Proven application architecture and data management experience
- Hands-on LLM and RAG solutions with response quality, latency, and cost optimization

PostgreSQL with pgvector: vector and hybrid search, metadata filtering, indexing
FalkorDB or equivalent graph databases
